Highlanders, we have a fun week ahead and a busy month behind us… here’s what you need to know:

  • Friday Night Lights
FRIDAY NIGHT LIGHTS – The Nighthawks fly into town Friday for a gridiron clash… expect a close game and comfy, dry, warmer weather. Boo tip: IHS Boosters get in free… sign up online support IHS students and blow past the gate lines!
  • HOCO LOCO – Homecoming fun kicks off Monday with a Hoco Cup Competition and Dress up Days. There’s a full week of “VS” fun, with a dodgeball tourney, the parade, a full week of sports, Friday’s Big Game, and the Homecoming Dance Saturday night. Boo encourages you to contribute to boost the spirit by pitching into their Hoco T-Shirt fund. Find official info on the IHS Calendar Page… and stay tuned here for more details.
  • NEW PARENT TIPS – It’s hard to be a new high school school parent: WCSD bureacracy, deadlines, forms, unfamiliar classes, new faces, complex grading… ever wish you could just ask someone?  Well you can… think of the Boosters as your IHS support network.  Chances are you know someone on the Boosters Board… call or email us with your questions, if we don’t know the answer we’ll point you in the right direction.  And if you don’t know us, then let’s change that.  Contact us and we’ll get  you to an honest, informed perspective on all things Highlander.
  • MEMBERS MEETING – Boosters had a fun and informative members meeting Wednesday. We warmed up with an IHS Junior vs the Boosters Board Trivia Smackdown… students eeked out a victory and devoured the Pizza. Dean of Students Joanne Devine provided an overview of Homecoming Events, we met some new members, provided updates on our developing theater, finance and social media initiatives, and Principal Andrew Yoxsimer  fielded a Q&A session on school security.
  • BOARD MEETING – President Tricia Tong and the Boosters Board advanced a number of important issues earlier Wednesday.
    • Treasurer Kevin Reeth has migrated our financials over to Quickbooks Online, reports are now archived in our new Google Docs cloud account, and we’re implementing some transaction processing documentation and training.
    • Joy Strotz reports Theater Renovation project development is on-track for contractor selection.
    • Social Media chair Tom Millhoff has established our Twitter account (follow us at https://twitter.com/InclineBoosters), set up Boosters Events Calendaring on Facebook, and implemented a no-fee nonprofit GSuite for Google Drive cloud archival, domain emails. Tom’s working on an updated logo and e-commerce platform.
    • Membership chair Debra Ornelas was away, but she’s doing a great job reaching out to members… we’ve already surpassed last year’s membership! We do need help reaching out to new Highlander families… thanks for introducing them to a Board member and encouraging them to join us in our mission to support IHS students over the long term.
    • Jill Minkle’s working on Banners- it’s not too late to purchase your family or corporate online or an upcoming game! Alma’s managing concessions and could use some help at upcoming soccer, football and winter sporting events… ping us if you can lend a hand.
    • Hospitality chair Holly Racich reported on a very successful New Student Welcome and BBQ event, and the Boosters were well represented at Back To School night. Special thanks to Highlander emeriti Kathie Goldberg and Sharon Schrage for staffing the Boosters table during classroom sessions so we could meet with teachers!
    • President Tricia Tong is beginning to develop plans for our big community fundraiser, the Crab Feed. Mark your calendars for March 7, 2020. We’re delighted to welcome the Voice of the Highlanders Rob Green back as our MC/Auctioneer. It takes a Village to pull this event off – if you want to help, ping Boo or any Board member.
    • Finally the Board voted to provide funding to support incentive and spirit items as well as a showing of Screenagers – stay tuned for details… details will be provided in our meeting minutes, which we post on our Policy page once they are approved.
