Meet the 2023-24 Board of Directors

Welcome – and thanks for stopping by. This Boosters Board is committed to serving IHS students, and we’re eager to assist current and prospective students and parents with any questions you may have regarding IHS, its programs, parenting and family life in our Village.

Executive Board Roles

AberlesMichael and Kelly Aberle, 2nd Vice Presidents (Membership/Hospitality) – Michael Aberle has two children (Ashlyn 18 and Aden 15, Kelly has two boys Grant 18 and Emerson 15. We are in final development and launching in 2024 a luxury wooden boat charter that will service Lake Tahoe, In addition, we manage and operate Tahoe Blue Video Production who primarily develops educational films and learning management software (LMS) for private and governmental offices. Michael served for many years as a Senior Underwriter for the largest insurance company in the world developing challenging insurance products. Michael is currently an active dive member for the Placer County Sheriff’s Office SAR team located in Lake Tahoe. Kelly has many years of volunteering within the school system, little league, and Junior Giants. Also Michael and Kelly are currently working with Principal Tierney on developing a new Digital Media & Journalism class and or club at Incline High School. Michael hobbies include photography, boating, traveling and scuba diving and Kelly’s hobbies include sewing, baking, diving and travel. We hope our skills will help enhance this year’s boosters. GO Highlanders!

Lourdes AvenierLourdes Avenier,  Spanish Liaison – Lourdes and Jeremy moved up with their two children from the Bay Area in 2017 after spending most of their holidays in Tahoe. After graduating as an Industrial Engineer, Lourdes became a certified Master Project Manager and held multiple roles for General Electric for over 17 years. Lourdes used her language skills to volunteer for organizations such as Stanford Children’s Health where she was instrumental in bringing awareness through fitness programs to their Hispanic community. She decided to pursue her passion of teaching and after completing over 25 years of ballet training under the British-based Royal Academy of Dancing, she is now a certified barre instructor in Incline Village. The Aveniers have served on committees and Boards of non-profits such as Larkin Street Youth Services, where for the past decade they have empowered young people to move beyond homelessness.

 

Tara Cannon,  Vice President (Fundraising) & 10th Grade Parent Rep – Tara and her two children moved to Lake Tahoe in August of 2021, she has a 10th grader at IHS and an 8th grader at LTS. She has been a program and fundraising manager for many, many years organizing large scale sporting events and concerts, fundraising and development for a non-profit. Since coming to Lake Tahoe, Tara has jumped right into Tahoe life and become a part of the community. She recently was the Chair for the 2023 IHS Crab Feed and the 2022 Co-Chair for the Lake Tahoe School Gala. Tara is excited to also be a part of the IHS Boosters and support the students and families of this incredible school. 

 

Sara Hillman, Communications & IT – Sara and Larry Hillman moved up from San Francisco in August of 2019 and jumped right into the Tahoe lifestyle. The family worked together to refurbish the Highlander’s sign at the Chevron station and updated the sign messages all year. Sara revised the Booster’s website and created the artwork for the Crab Feed in 2020. Sara is the Head of Product UI/UX at a start-up software AI company. She loves to ski, play pickleball and volleyball, and play board games. Husband Larry is a senior executive and an effusive outdoorsman.  Their son Sam graduated from IHS  in 2023; daughter Alex is a Sophomore.

Diane Morrison, President –Almost 30 years in Tahoe, and Diane is still in love with life at the Lake. Diane received both Finance and Marketing degrees from University of San Diego, and worked in Finance and Aerospace in Southern California. After moving to Tahoe on a one year ski hiatus, she never left! For 10 years in the Basin, Diane worked as an event planner, but moved back into the world of Finance when family life demanded a more stable travel schedule. Diane continues to work as a Financial Advisor, having founded Dailey Morrison Financial 15 years ago. Diane and her husband Robb have raised two children in Incline Village. Jack (19) and Lili (14) each attended both Lake Tahoe School and IES and IMS. Having been in the community for over 25 years, Diane has had an opportunity to organize events, fundraise, volunteer and serve as a board member for a number of non profit organizations including, Girls on the Run, Tahoe Family Solutions (former Children’s Cabinet), B&G Club of NLT, Rotary Club of Incline Tahoe, Thunderbird Preservation Society and Diamond Peak Ski Foundation. Diane also served as IES PTA President, and was a board member for Lake Tahoe School’s Diversity & Inclusion and Development Boards.

Heather Shook, Secretary – Heather and Chuck moved to Incline Village in 2016 and feel very fortunate to be able to raise their children in this exceptional community. Heather has enjoyed a multifaceted career over the years in sales, supply chain logistics and project management. However, her current focus is pursuing a master’s in social work. Chuck is a Deputy with the Washoe County Sheriff’s Office, and children, Stella (16) and Adrian (14), attend IHS. Heather is honored to take on the role of Secretary for this organization and looks forward to an incredible year.

 

Key Board Roles & Committees

Emmanuelle MacdonaldEmmanuelle Macdonald moved to Incline Village with her husband in 1995 from London for a “six months” ski hiatus and still living here…

Born and raised in France, Emmanuelle moved to London at the age of 20 to complete her B.A. in Foreign Languages and ended up living there for 6 years.

She has two children, Alex (IHS Class of ’23) and Ava is a 2023 freshman. Emmanuelle has served as a Red White & Tahoe Blue volunteer, a charitable French tutor, a member of the IMS Jr Boosters and ran concessions at IHS last year. She is an avid hiker and enjoys cooking and travelling.

Alexis HummerAlexis was born and raised in Truckee and is a graduate of Truckee High and Sierra College. She spent 12 years with Truckee Tahoe Medical Group, where, as manager of the Olympic Valley practice she met her husband Bart who brought her many patients while Ski Patrolling. She moved into IT for Tahoe Forest Hospital District, but has since moved on, returning to a more exciting environment and is now with Truckee Fire District. She moved to Incline 10 years ago and loves to bike, paddleboard, swim, x/c ski and is always looking forward to the next lengthy raft trip.

Tom has served on the Boosters Board since 2018.  As a past President, VP and Board member, Tom managed communications, membership, publicity, IT and fundraising. Tom developed our initial website and social media infrastructure and content, implemented Google Suite collaboration tools, promoted the first Adult Prom and chaired two Crab Feeds.  Tom’s a 24-year resident of Incline’s Upper Tyner neighborhood; his wife Sue Rock is the Tahoe Quarterly food and wine editor, and sons Max and Ben Rock are IHS valedictorians, now studying engineering and pre-med at ASU and University of Miami.  When not parenting, volunteering, and working, Tom can be found biking, fishing, hiking, backpacking and backcountry skiing above Lake Tahoe.

Kristen O'DonnellKristen O’Donnell moved to Incline Village from The Bay Area in 2010. She is a real estate broker with Sierra Sotheby’s International Realty in California and Nevada, and has been licensed since 1999. Originally from New Jersey, she graduated from Villanova University.

Outside of her professional life, Kristen is a dedicated single mother to 14 year old twins, Jack and Avery, who recently graduated from Lake Tahoe School. She also has a passion for supporting her community, particularly in empowering women in business, providing opportunities in childhood education, and furthering advances in women’s health. Kristen is a two-time breast cancer survivor.

Kristen has served on the Boards of Directors and chaired fundraising committees for various non-profit organizations, including The Princess Project, Tahoe’s Connection for Families, Lake Tahoe School, Tahoe Safe Alliance, The Diamond Peak Ski Team, The Junior League, and Sierra Community House. Her efforts have raised millions of dollars, reflecting her commitment to securing a better future for women and children.

With her experience, education, and dedication to community service, Kristen O’Donnell brings valuable insights and a passion for empowering others to the Boosters.

Inga Starrett-BriggsInga and her husband Tim moved to Incline Village in 2011 and feel very fortunate to be able to raise their children in this outdoor setting. Both Inga and Tim have held various non-profit positions within the community and are advocates for youth sports and academic enrichment programs. Inga’s career focuses on technology communications. She currently runs the Research & Analytics practice for Big Valley Marketing, an integrated marketing communications consultancy based in the bay area. Inga’s children are Alexander (Class of 2025) and Anika (Class of 2027). The family enjoys biking, skiing and wake surfing along with participating in school activities.

Tierney CahillTierney is Incline High School’s Principal. She is not on the board but she works closely with the Boosters to relay important information about the school, school district and educational policies that affect our community. She and her staff help the Boosters to understand the school needs that meet the Boosters mission criteria of “More than one child for more than one year”. Tierney attends all Boosters Board meetings.
