Boo’s been buzzing with Boosters families back from break; I’ve enjoyed hearing of beach vacations and campus tours.  Here’s what IHS Parents need to know…

COLLEGE PREP – With this week’s PSAT and application deadlines looming, college is top of mind.  Our energetic new Highlander counselors are doing a great job preparing IHS students.  As I write Colgate State reps are on campus, and tomorrow morning Oregon State  pays a visit, Monday we host the University of Arizona and Tuesday it’s Montana State’s turn.  Parents of IHS Seniors should take advantage of tonight’s Senior College Planning Night. And Sunday there’s a College Fair at UNR. This is a free event for families and students to interact with nearly 80 universities and colleges and attend informational workshops – register here.

SPORTY FRIDAY – Get your kicks, spikes and hits in with a full slate of Highlander Athletics this Friday:

  • Boys and Girls Varsity Soccer hosts Winnemucca’s Buckaroos
  • Girls Volleyball hosts the Silver Stage Nighthawks
  • The Eli Bobcats slink into town for an important conference football game Friday night.  With a playoff berth in the balance, expect an exciting and hard fought contest…

C’mon out and support your Highlanders – $10 for adults, free for Boosters Members… sign up now or at the gate.

SCREENAGERS – Additional seats have opened up so reserve your spot for this important screening and discussion.

BOOSTERS MEETING UPDATE – Fresh from this Wednesday’s Board and Members meeting, here’s Boo’s Boosters Business update:

  • Joy Strotz has the Theater Renovation project architectural plans out to bid.
  • With an able assist from Kevin Reeth and Dave Lewis, Tom Millhoff is evaluating e-commerce options for this inclineboosters.com website.  We’ve got CrabFeed subdomain and auction software set up, and we’re working on a new logo… stay tuned!
  • Membership chair Debra Ornelas reports we have over 170 members, and banner chair Jill Minkle advises we still have room for Family and Corporate banners in the large gym.  If you’d like to support our students by purchasing a family or corporate banner, reach out to Jill or contact us.
  • Alma Brubaker’s done a great job recruiting student-run clubs and teams to manage concessions, but she does need some adult supervision.  We also need help selling merchandise and managing admissions, both fun and social roles.  If you can spare an  hour or two, please sign up for a spot.
  • We had a productive Crab Feed Planning meeting and will hold our second meeting on November 4 at 10:30.  Many  hands make light work, so  if you have a pair to lend please ping Boo or any Board member.
  • Boring but important… we’ve posted past meeting minutes and a WCSD Asbestos notice on our Policy Page.
