Weekly School Updates
Couple important notes
- School will start at 7:45am now (not 7:50)
- 8/22 6pm: Mandatory Fall Sports meeting for parents and athletes – Duffield Theater. This is the NEW date
- Picture Days will be on 8/29 and 8/30, with a make-up day on 10/30. The day your student’s photos are taken will depend on whether the pictures are taken during English or another class. We should know soon
- 8/29 6pm: Family/Community Calendar Alignment meeting at IHS to discuss potential schedule changes for the high school that will begin next school year. See description below.
- 9/2 No School
- 9/4 5:30 – 7:00pm: Back to school night
- 9/20 Homecoming parade and football game
- 9/21 Homecoming dance
Calendar Alignment Meeting – August 29

After multiple meetings with district departments, it has become clear to WCSD that Incline students are at a distinct disadvantage by having their finals after the winter break (instead of before winter break). Currently, students spend part of their winter break stressing and studying for finals that take place on their return from their 2-week break. Additionally, this timing issue impacts our Advanced Placement (AP), ACT, and PSAT students, making it more challenging for them to prepare adequately compared to their peers at other schools. Additionally, this delay can affect the ability to submit grades for college applications, scholarships, and even the ability to attend military boot camp on time.
To address this concern, a community meeting will be held on Thursday, August 29th, at 6:00 p.m. in the IHS Duffield Theater. This is an important student-centered decision, and it will be most impactful if both parents and students take the lead in driving this initiative.
Following the community meeting, WCSD will be sending out a survey to gather further input from the community.
