WCSD Follow-up Community Meeting About IMS Closure
Many of you have been participating in the IMS closure conversation. Meagan Barth, an Incline Village resident and editor of the Nevada Globe, has connected with Senator Krasner and Assemblyman Delong. She recently shared with them the potential plans happening at IHS/IMS/IES. Both were unaware and “shocked” with the situation and plan to contact Dr. Enfield directly. That said, they encouraged public to write to them expressing the situation individually. Email addresses and sample letter below.
It takes a Village. And Our Village is Strong. Let our voices be heard!
Senator Lisa Krasner (state.nv.us)
Email address Lisa.Krasner@sen.state.nv.us
Assemblyman Rich DeLong (state.nv.us)
Email address Rich.Delong@asm.state.nv.us
You are welcome to use this example as yours or use it to write your own:
Dear Senator Krasner and Assemblyman DeLong,
I am writing regarding the potential closure of Incline Middle School. I strongly believe as a community we do not have a voice in the decision-making process for the proposed closure of our school. The lack of transparency from the district in this process is unacceptable to the community and our stakeholders.
Consolidation of our schools will establish inequitable learning contexts for our students and negatively impact parents, educators, and our community at large. Educators and community funding teamed to develop excellence for Incline Middle Schools’ programs, which include STEM and the culinary arts, and these effectively utilize space in our building.
I respectfully request your attention to our plea to maintain our middle school as “status quo” and support equity across all our schools.
Sincerely,
Flyers
