Program Overview
We are seeking an enthusiastic and creative instructor to lead a pilot after school Dance & Drama Program open to Middle and High School students. This program is designed to engage a wide range of student interests in theater arts, dance, and movement. The program will run September through January and again February – June. Student enrollment numbers will vary per semester.
Position Summary
The instructor will be responsible for teaching various styles of dance, choreographing dance routines, and directing short drama or acting pieces. You will have the freedom to explore all forms of movement, dance, and drama to best meet the interests and talents of our students. The instructor will report to the Incline Boosters Club and work closely with IHS administration staff.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop and deliver a dynamic curriculum covering diverse styles of dance, theater, and movement.
- Create a syllabus and weekly lesson plans.
- Maintain daily attendance records.
- Plan and coordinate two end-of-season performances in the Duffield Theater at Incline High School.
- Work with IHS administration to book practice / rehearsal rooms and performance space.
- Manage a budget for props, costumes, and technical support, with budget oversight by the Incline Boosters Club.
- Guide students toward earning PE credit by ensuring the 60-hour class requirement is met. (Students attending IHS may elect to not participation in this)
Qualifications
- Experience as a dance teacher, theater coach, choreographer, and related performing arts instructor.
- Ability to teach various dance forms (e.g., jazz, hip hop, modern, ballet, musical theater) and direct dramatic performances. Instructor can design the program around the interest of the students, with dance being the focus.
- Strong organizational and communication skills.
- Passion for working with middle and high school students.
- Must pass background checks per school district policy.
Program Schedule
- Mid-September to January and February – June
- Classes will be held weekly excluding school holiday weeks.
- Students seeking a Physical Ed (P.E.) waiver will require a minimum of 60 hours total, for each semester.
Compensation
This is a 1099 position and part time. A flat fee will be established and paid every 2-weeks based on the experience and scope of the work. No additional benefits are provided.
