📣 Shoutout to Our Community for Supporting Incline’s Cross-Country Team!

Thanks to your generosity, our amazing cross-country team reached new heights last year and competed strongly this year! 💪🏅 The Incline Boosters Club proudly contributed $2,000 from the athletic budget, and through incredible teamwork at their “Crab Pot” table during the Boosters Crab Feed, the team raised an additional $5,750! 🦀💰

Coach McMahan said the funds raised are used to pay entry fees to compete.

“Unlike football, basketball, baseball etc., Cross-country has to pay to compete. There are no dual or three-way meets in the state. All races are Invitationals. In Spring 2024, we had 17 runners and we pay up to $20/runner to compete. We spend $200-$300 each week just for entry fees. Also, the district will not supply transportation past Truckee, and most of our competitions are in California. If there are any funds left over we will use them to help pay for food for your team awards dinner at the end of the season. Last season my wife and I paid $6,800 out of our own pocket for travel and lodging among other things.”

“In 2023, the team had an amazing season. Both our boys and girls teams were state runners up. We also had the boys individual state champion for the second year in a row. We set 8 school records between the boys and girls. Over the last 5 years we have 7 state runner up finishes and 1 state championship. We have also had 4 individual state champions and 2 athletes that have received scholarships to run in college. One a one of the top D1 running programs in the country, Gonzaga University and the other at Georgetown College.”

The Cross Country team’s best meet of the season this year took place at the Reed Invitational, where the boys team attained a remarkable 7th place finish out of 29 teams in the Varsity race and earned the top spot among 2A schools. Boys and girls cross country teams both advanced to state with 2nd place finishes! Sage and Asher excel, placing 5th and 7th respectively.
