“I am Mr. Young, and no one else (that you know of). Welcome to my website! This is my first year at Incline High School, and my eleventh teaching. I have two bachelor’s degrees, one in English and one in Communication Rhetoric, both from the University of California, Davis. I also have a Masters degree in Education. Prior to teaching, I worked as a truck driver, cook, film editor, writer, online content producer, volleyball coach, and jazz-inspired dancing magician. (One of those is a lie.) I have traveled all over the world, and have lived in 12 cities, 4 countries, and 1 planet. When not in the classroom, you will most likely find me out with my wonder-wife, Dr. Abby Young (an emergency physician), skiing, rock climbing, mountain biking, surfing, and enjoying the wonders of the outside world. Otherwise, I’ll be on the couch crushing Jeopardy or honoring my many allegiances with our new wonder-pup Bananas (rest in peace wonder-mutt Noodles). In 2015 we welcomed our first wonder-child, Daphne Rose (“Lady Meatball”), to the family, and in 2017 we brought home our second wonder-child, Bodie Burns (“Thundersnow”). I was a proud member of the LVMPD Search and Rescue Unit and the Lee Canyon ski patrol, I am a nationally registered EMT, a swiftwater rescue technician, a dual citizen (American and Dutch), and according to extensive research, the tallest English teacher in the world.
